Balboa park is one of the largest cultural centers in the US. It has over 85 performing arts and cultural organizations as well as 15 museums, the San Diego Zoo, Gardens, Hiking and biking trails, theater, recreational facilities and restaurants. However, if you choose to bring children (especially a one year old), you spend most of your time at the water features and snack bars :) We did go to the model train museum which was a huge hit with Sam, but I'll do a seperate post for that.
